Health & Travel Certificates

If you’re planning a trip or move with your pet, you may need to acquire a health & travel certificate before your pet will be allowed entry into a new country or state. Here’s everything you need to know.

Traveling With Your Pet?

Is this your first time obtaining a travel or health certificate for your pet? Don’t worry. Olde Towne Animal Hospital has years of experience with these documents and can walk you through the process.

Call for an appointment and we will give your pet a thorough examination. Try to schedule this appointment well in advance if at all possible. If his health and records seem clear, we can sign the appropriate documents and you will be on your way. If, on the other hand, there are any areas of concern, it may take time to get your pet ready for travel. That said, you can count on our team to work quickly. We are able to give vaccinations and perform further health testing onsite.

Because your health and travel certificates will depend on your mode of travel, as well as your destination, be sure to do some research prior to coming in. We recommend you call the airline & consult the USDA travel requirements from link below. If you have further questions, give us a call and we will be happy to help.

We recommend that you make a few other preparations when traveling with your pet. To keep him safe, you might consider microchipping your pet. Or at the very least, updating his collar and tags. You should also plan on traveling with a few comfort items for your pet - like a favorite blanket or chew toy. Get in touch with our office if you have any questions about preparing your pet for travel.

Specific Country Information

International health certificates are required for most countries. Some countries have very stringent requirements. Please check the web site below for more information.p

Commonly some health certificates must be specifically completed by a USDA accredited veterinarian - we have 3, Drs. Grosjean, Stelling and MacMillan. The document must then be endorsed by the regional USDA veterinarian prior to departure.
